What this product is about:
Place your SOFT contacts in “cage” (one side per contact), place the cage into the unit, fill the unit with Purilens solution.
Purilens solution contains no preservatives (which can irritate the eye, by causing an allergic reaction or redness)
Place the lid on the unit and in 15 minutes your lens are cleanded by:
1) Agitator which “vibrates” the lenses to remove particles and proteins
2) A UV light which acts to kill germs
Remove the lid, take your contacts out of their cage, stick them in and you’re out the door!!!
This product is perfect for SOFT contact wearers who:
1) Don’t want to wait 4-6 hours for their contacts to soak, but would rather wait only 15 minutes
2) Have red eyes or irritated eyes frequently (could be a sign of a slight to moderate allergic reaction to the contact solution)
3) Have sensitive eyes (sensitive to contact solution preservatives)
4) Have dry eyes
5) Have excessive protein build up
6) Dislikes rubbing their contacts constantly
7) Falls asleep in their contacts (even though they aren’t suppose to) and has to put on their glasses because they can’t wait 6 hours for their contacts to soak
My story: I went to my eye doctor and told him that I had red eyes (my co-workers were even pointing it out to me). The doctor provided two solutions 1)Changed my contacts to ones that let my eyes breath better and 2) Recommended Purilens. When I first used Purilens, I just used it because I liked how quickly my lenses were clean. I figured my new contacts were contributing to my non-irritated eyes. It wasn’t until I stopped using Purilens on a camping trip that I realized my eyes dried up quicker and became red. My eyes also felt more strained when I wasn’t using Purilens.
My RAVE:
1) It only takes 15 mins to clean my lenses
2) When I put my lenses on from the Purilens system they do “feel like new” and my eyes actually feel refreshed placing them on my eye
3) After absorbing the initial cost of the unit and buying a 6 months supply of the solution, you end up saving money! This is because the cost of the purilens solution per ounce is cheaper than the cost of most other contact solutions
4) GREAT customer service. This is what sold me on the product and will keep me a loyal customer. As with anything that is a machine, sometimes the unit may break down. The two things likely to malfunction on the Purilens unit are the agitator and the UV Light. BUT if you always purchase your Purilens solution from Purilens (or an authorized dealer), you can call and get a replacement unit for only $8 shipping with no other strings attached. You don’t even have to send back the old one. Now that’s a warranty!!!
Some warnings (why some people may not like it, or at least at first):
1) The contact lens “trap” that you place your lenses in may seem akward at first. You may feel like you are going to close the doors on your lens and crush it, but that is not the case. What I found a bit hard to get use to is removing the lens from the trap. But you will get it. If you have used enzyme tablet traps, the trap for purilens works the same way.
2) You have to buy the Purilens solution to get the “life time guarantee” and the solution can only be bought at limited places.
3) There is a chance that the agitator or UV light may malfunction (this has happened to me before). If this does happen, you can either call Purilens or if you purchased it from your eye care practioneer, you can probably exchange it there.
4) You may not notice benefits of Purilens for up to a week. This is because your eyes may still be irritated from the previous solution you were using, but in a few days your eyes will calm down as you use Purilens.
TIP!
Even though Purilens says you can’t, I’ve been told that you can reuse the purilens solution placed in the unit at least twice. I’ve reused the solution 3 times with no problems. BUT Purilens recommends you NEVER reuse the solution (just to cover themselves). However, you will save money if you do decide to reuse the solution. Just a thought.
